Description
We invite you to San Pedro de Atacama and its surroundings, Altiplanic Lagoons, Tebenquiche and Cejar lagoons and visit the beautiful and mystical Moon Valley.
- Program applies to flights arriving and departing before 11:00 am and departing after 06:00 pm.
- Transfer from and to the Airport from 08:59 pm to 07:00 AM must pay an additional fee.

- Transfer from/to the airport does not include guide.

Itinerary
Day 01: Calama Airport - San Pedro de Atacama - The Moon Valley
Reception and transfer from the Calama Airport to your hotel in San Pedro de Atacama. In the afternoon, departure from the hotel to the Moon Valley (4:00 pm in summer / 3:00 pm in winter; summer season begin in September 1. Subject to confirmation). 19 km from San Pedro, in the Salt Mountain Range, is the Moon Valley, declared a Nature Sanctuary and Monument and protected by the uniqueness of its beauty. It consists of a depression surrounded by small hills with impressively sharp peaks. The tour is an imaginary trip to landscapes that does not belong in our world, but to other planets. We will see Dinosaur Valley and Death Valley, where there is a spectacular panoramic view of the area. We continue to Moon Valley, where we will find geological formations that are the result of successive foldings of the earth's crust. In the valley it is possible to appreciate the salt sculptures known as Las Tres Marias, formed by wind erosion. Continuing with the tour we will walk through the interior of the caves that remain from the old deposits, to get closer to valley where is the Big Dune. After a break, we will climb this dune, which impresses with its size and is used for extreme sports as snowboarding At dawn, a bold palette of golds and reds appear, touching the soul and sensibilities of the visitor. Return to hotel. Lodging.
Day 02: San Pedro de Atacama - Altiplanic Lagoons - Atacama Salt Flat
Departure at 08:30 am. In this excursion, we will visit Piedras Rojas (Red Stones) located in the Tara Salt Flat with its fascinating and beautiful red-colored landscape, remarked by its owe-inspiring geological formations born from the rusting of the iron. After that, we will go through the path to the Altiplano in order to visit the Miscanti and Miñiques Lagoons, located more than 4,200 meter above the sea level and surrounded by great and imposing volcanoes from the Andes Mountain Range and flora and fauna in their natural environment. We will continue to Chaxa Lagoon, a scenery and beautiful landscape, divided into several water mirrors where a great number of flamingoes and other birds such as Andean Flamingoes. Finally, before we return, while the landscape features marvelous views of the Licancabur and Lascar Volcanoes, we will visit Toconao with a typical colonial architecture, San Lucas Church, the first National Monument. Return to San Pedro at 4:00 pm approximately. Lodging.
Day 03: San Pedro de Atacama - Cejar Lagoon - Tebenquiche Lagoon
Breakfast at hotel and free morning to visit San Pedro de Atacama. At 3:30 pm (winter) / 4:00 pm (summer) - summer season begin on October 1st. Subject to confirmation. We start our trip to Cejar and Tebinquiche Lagoons. 20 kilometers from San Pedro de Atacama and at 2,300 meters high, Cejar Lagoon is surrounded by salt crystals in the middle of the Atacama Salt Flat, a beautiful environment. The magical turquoise waters are inviting and have a buoyancy level higher than that of the Dead Sea, because of high concentrations of salt and lithium. Very nearby are the Ojos del Salar (Eyes of the Salt Flat), two freshwater pools. After enjoying these breathtaking natural sites, return to San Pedro de Atacama. Lodging.
Day 04: San Pedro de Atacama - Tatio Geysers - Calama Airport
Departure at 05:00 am (pick up at 4:30 am. Subject to confirmation) from the hotel We leave at dawn from San Pedro de Atacama hotel to go to the Tatio Geysers, a geothermal center with geysers that can only be seen very early in the morning. After seeing this spectacular sight in a magnificent natural setting, we eat breakfast. On the way back, we see the majestic Andes Mountain Range, whose peaks seem close enough to be touched. Then, we arrive in Machuca, a small llama herder settlement. The village is filled with adobe houses with thatched roofs. Green wetlands lend a special charm. Transfer to airport. End of our services.

The only problem we had with our trip was an unexpected delay upon arrival in Calama airport on Aug 25. The road to San Pedro de Atacama was closed. In our minimal Spanish, we understood that it was due to weather and that we could return to the airport, get a hotel room in Calama,or transfer to another vehicle at the shopping center and wait for an undetermined amount of time. The drivers for TurisTour were very accommodating, but we were not able to call anyone on our cell phones or speak in English to anyone who could explain what the problem was (road washed or landslide? temporary closure due to snowfall?) and what our options were. We tried arranging for a 4WD vehicle (since they were being allowed through) with our limited language skills, but finally decided to wait. It all worked out OK--the road had just been closed due to snowfall; it reopened and we were driven in TurisTour van. It would have saved us several hours of anxiety, however, if an English-speaking age
