This zone is outstanding for its beautiful natural areas, the geography, and the thermal spring, besides its archeological places and petroglyphs. It is located in the hill Apolonia, possessing a natural viewpoint of the whole city.
Also, it possesses buildings as the Iglesia San Francisco, Convento Santa Catalina, and the cathedral, amongst others. In addition, it ha natural areas, as the Parque Nacional Cutervo, where species of the native fauna and exuberant flora can be observed. Other is the Santuario Nacional Tabaconas Namballe, with a mist forest with the local vegetation, as orchids and lichenes.
Additionally, it has archeological complexes, as the Cumbemayo, surrounded by a mysterious and interesting stone forest, or Layzón's complex, with high decorated walls.
It is important to visit the Baños del Inca, known by the curative properties of its thermal spring. Another resorts is the Yumagual.
