- You must be able to climb back a ladder, to get back to the boat from the snorkel activity
- All tour reservations are subject to availability, especially due to high season in December and from June until August.
Wetsuit requirements in the Galapagos Islands vary depending on the season.
During the warmer months from January to June, water temperatures range from 60°F to 75°F (16°C to 24°C), making a short wetsuit or even a swimsuit sufficient for snorkeling.
However, from June to December, the water temperature drops to around 60°F (16°C), necessitating a long wetsuit.
Ultimately, personal comfort plays a crucial role in choosing the appropriate wetsuit. Some individuals may prefer a wetsuit even in warmer months, while others may be comfortable without one.
Itinerary
Duration: Approximately 6 hours
Morning Departures: Start your day early or before midday. Pick up begins at 7:00 up to 7:30 AM or 11:00 up to 11:30 AM. Make sure to book your tour in advance as this is a popular excursion.
Tour Meeting Point: Meet at the designated tour operator's office in Puerto Villamil. You will be briefed about the day’s activities, safety measures, snorkel equipment gear up and what to expect during the trip.
Boat Ride: Board a boat that will take you to Los Túneles. The boat ride typically takes about 45 minutes. Enjoy the scenic views of the coastline and keep an eye out for occasional marine life such as dolphins, whales and manta rays along the way. The boat has a roof all over it, while the front is all closed, the back is open.
Snorkeling and Exploration: There is a long snorkel and a short one included. Upon arrival at Los Túneles, you will have the opportunity to snorkel in the crystal-clear water. This area is known for its unique volcanic formations, tunnels, and arches, as well as diverse marine life, including sharks, rays, tropical fish, and occasionally, penguins, seahorse.
Guided Walk: A short guided walk on the lava formations is included, to learn about the geology and the unique flora and fauna of the area.
Relax and Refresh: Enjoy a light snack while relaxing on the boat. You'll have time to take in the breathtaking scenery and reflect on the incredible wildlife encounters.
Return to Puerto Villamil: Head back to Puerto Villamil. The return journey might take another 45 minutes.
