Know Cuenca
It is the capital of Azuay's province, It possesses beautiful landscapes and history. It was declared by the UNESCO as a World Heritage Site for its architectural richness of European influence. It is located in the Andean mountains and possesses an excellent climate for the agriculture and its orchids.
Cuenca is characterized for its historic heritage, with important churches and museums, as the Muse de la Antigua Cathedral, Muse de Tierra y Artes de Fuego, and the Centro de Artes Populares Interamericano, amongst others. In addition, it is the headquarter of the Festival de Artes Escénicas and the Bienal International de Cuenca, with exhibitions of plastic arts.
It is a city with great archaeological richness, for being located in the ancient Inca city, Tomebamba, with vestiges of clay and metal handicraft.
It possesses beautiful surroundings, ideal to realize outdoor activities, as the geological park Ciudad Encantada, and the Hoz de Huécar, with forms created by the wind and the rocks, amongst others.
