Itinerary
Our excursion will begin as we leave Puerto Natales to head north, taking the route that borders the Última Esperanza bay. On the way to the Milodon Cave Natural Monument, we will pass by Silla del Diablo (Devil's Chair), a strange and curious rocky natural formation of 30 meters of height.
Once in the Natural Monument, located at 25 kilometers from Puerto Natales, we will visit the museum and then we will go to the huge 200 meters deep cavern where remains of prehistoric animals were found.
After the visit, we will continue our day by making a brief stop at one of the coffee shops of Villa Cerro Castillo, which is a border crossing with Argentina, where we can have lunch (optional). Then we will head towards Torres del Paine National Park.
Once here, we will go to the Sarmiento Lake viewpoint, where we can observe an amazing view of the Paine massif, a granite giant modelled by the force of ice. On the way, we can find native fauna, such as guanacos, condors or ñandúes. To have better views, we will go to Laguna Amarga where we will make a stop.
We will continue to Salto Grande, where we can make a very easy hike and observe an impressive waterfall of strong flow. We will head towards Grey Lake along Pehoé Lake. From here we will cross a suspension bridge and take a walk of about 15 minutes in which we will cross a native forest until we reach the Grey Lake. Here we will make a stop to admire the huge pieces of ice that have come off the glacier.
We will start the return to Puerto Natales by the same route, or if possible according to weather conditions, we can take the road that borders the Toro, Porteño and Sofia Lakes.
