Yes, although daytime temperatures can be warm, nights in the desert can be very cold. It is advisable to bring light clothing for the day and warm clothes for the night, as well as a hat, sunscreen and sunglasses.

The most common way to get there is to fly from Santiago to Calama Airport, and then by land vehicle to San Pedro de Atacama (which is about 100 km from Calama).
