Itinerary
Begin your journey with a visit to the hauntingly photogenic Train Cemetery, where abandoned locomotives rust under the Bolivian sun a silent reminder of Uyuni’s mining past.
Continue to Colchani, a quaint village where locals still harvest salt using traditional methods. Here, you'll also find unique salt-based handicrafts and a glimpse into daily life on the edge of the flats.
Then, head into the heart of the Salar de Uyuni, the world’s largest salt flat. Along the way, stop to see salt sculptures, the bubbling Ojos de Sal, and the iconic Dakar Monument. Visit the Plaza de las Banderas, where travelers from across the globe have planted their flags, and the original Salt Hotel, now a salt museum filled with history and charm.
Next, visit Isla Incahuasi, a striking island of volcanic rock covered in towering cacti. From the summit, admire sweeping 360° views of the endless salt desert—pure magic.
Sunset at the Salar: End the day with an unforgettable sunset where the sky melts into the salt flats, reflecting light and colors in surreal harmony.
Overnight in a local accommodation near the Salar.
After breakfast, venture to the remote village of Tomave, nestled in the Bolivian highlands. Discover the charm of this off-the-beaten-path area through a visit to its colonial church, a beautiful remnant of Spanish influence.
Enjoy a moment of relaxation in natural hot springs, surrounded by raw landscapes and silence.
The day continues with stops at nearby high-altitude lagoons, where striking hues—greens, blues, and turquoises blend into the desert scenery. Each lagoon offers a different palette and a serene, almost dreamlike atmosphere.
In the afternoon, begin your return to Uyuni, with a heart full of memories and camera full of breathtaking photos. Drop off at the bus terminal or city center.
