- The Museum of Latin American Art of Buenos Aires, MALBA, was founded in September 2001 with the objective of collecting, preserving, studying and disseminating Latin American art from the beginning of the 20th century to the present. Donated to the City of Buenos Aires by its author the Argentine architect Eduardo Catalano, it is made of stainless steel and aluminum and weighs 18 tons. It was the first sculpture in movement controlled by a hydraulic system and photoelectric cells.
