Description

Visit Estancia 25 de Mayo, a sprawling  42,000-acre (17,000-hectare) ranch with a historical main house outside El Calafate. Traveling in a comfortable 4x4 vehicle, ascend the Huyliche and Calafate hills. Destination: an outpost of the Villalba family residences—the first inhabitants of this land. Learn about the family’s history and the native flora and fauna, then enjoy a typical Argentinian lunch.

Itinerary

  • The tour will start by picking you up at your hotel. Once all the passengers are picked up, the ascent through the Huyliche and Calafate hills begins, traveling in a comfortable 4 x 4 discovering the geology and paleontology of the Patagonian steppe until get into the "Estancia 25 de Mayo".

  • Once we get to Estancia 25 de Mayo we will continue through the course of the Calafate stream, recognizing the change in the flora as we continue the ascent until we arrive to the post of the Villalba family. We will learn about the family's history while observing the landscape around us. We will make a short trekking around the reserve where we will explore and discover archaeological sites that go back to the era of the glaciations. Once immersed in the steppe, we will see different species inhabiting the place, while the guides tell us about them and their way of life. 

    Finally, we will enjoy a delicious stew in "La Selección" and return to El Calafate.
