Itinerary

  • Our walking tour begins in our office, located right at the heart of the San Telmo neighborhood. This is one of the oldest neighborhoods of Buenos Aires and it has a vibrant tango and arts scene. We’ll begin the tour by heading down to Defensa street, and going south to visit the antiques markets, see the unique architecture and admire the distinctive street lanterns (known locally as ‘faroles’), cobblestones, traditional buildings and vintage decoration.

We will continue to Puerto Madero. Here, we will cross the dock and walk along the riverbank facing the city. This area is far more modern than the downtown, made up of skyscrapers and exclusive restaurants and hotels. We’ll reach the Puente de la Mujer.

We’ll head across the bridge and take a walk along the other riverbank, towards Avenida Belgrano where we will turn in to Avenida Paseo Colón and wander around for another three blocks until we reach the historic Plaza de Mayo. Here, we can make a stop at the Catedral Metropolitana and admire the Cabildo, Ayuntamiento Colonia and Casa Rosada, the seat of the executive branch. The guide will take this opportunity to tell you about the historical and social events that happened in this place over the years.

Heading to the other side of the square, we’ll set off on the Diagonal Norte, an important place that links the judicial and governmental branch in it is related to the Supreme Court of Justice and Casa Rosada. We’ll reach the famous Obelisco, a symbol of the city which is in the middle of the widest street in the world, the Avenida 9 de Julio. After crossing this street, we’ll continue down the street, until we get to the Teatro Colón. This distinctive opera house is considered as one of the top 5 in the world for its size, acoustic and history.

  • If you choose to visit the Teatro Colón, the tour will end with a guided tour of this spectacular opera house. We’ll go into the Teatro and meet our guide and a small group of other visitors. From here we’ll see the Hall, Main Foyer, Hall of Bustos and the Golden Hall, where you can learn amazing facts about the architecture, stairs, sculptures, ceilings and windows. After 50-minutes visit, the tour will come to an end at the entrance to the Theatre.

  • If you choose to visit the MALBA, we’ll hop on the bus outside the Theatre and head to the Palermo neighborhood. The Museo de Arte Latinoamericano of Buenos Aires was founded in September of 2001 with the aim of collecting, preserving, studying and showing to the world, The Latin-American art, created between the beginning of 20th Century to the present day.

The museum has around 400 pieces from the most influential, modern and contemporary regional artists. The tour will finish with the entrance to the museum (ticket included), where you’ll have the chance to explore on your own, and also you can take your time in each room and different exhibitions.

  • You can also choose the tour which includes a visit to both (the Teatro Colón and the MALBA). In this case you will have a guided tour around the Teatro, then head to the MALBA where entrance ticket  is provided. The tour will then come to an end, and the guide will leave you to explore the museum on your own.
