This beautiful city, known as "Tacita de Plata", is the capital of Jujuy's Province. It is located in the beginning of the Humahuaca's gully. It is surrounded by mountains and rivers. Its architecture mixes colonial and modern buildings, the same as its colouring traditions, with a great Andean influence and other cultures who lived in the zone.
This city is characterized by its carnivals and festivities, such as the Fiesta Nacional Latinoamericana, full of color and participation of its inhabitants. Also, its buildings, such as the Catedral Basílica, the Casa de Gobierno, and the Salón de la Bandera, correspond to the colonial period. It has several museums, such as the Museo Histórico Provincial Juan Galo Lavalle and the Museo Arqueológico Provincial, with the oldest heritage of the region.
In addition, it has several natural areas in the surroundings, such as the Termas de Reyes and the Yala Lagoons, where it is possible to enjoy the nature and realize activities as fishing, trekking, excursions, and religious tourism, amongst others.
