Peruvian currency is called “sol”(singular) or “soles” (plural). One US dollar currently fluctuates between 2. 5 soles to 3.00 soles per dollar (this amount could vary daily). You will be able to find money exchange offices at the airport and at various shops in the cities.
VERY IMPORTANT: Take only dollar bills that look new to Peru . Bills with folds, rips, faint coloring, or that are taped will be exchanged at a lower rate or not at all. Also, take big bills, single $1 bills will be exchanged for a lower rate.
